How you make a difference

The Director Infectious Disease (DID) provides comprehensive and coordinated care to patients with infectious diseases, such as HIV/AIDS, TB, HCV, or other communicable diseases. The DIDis responsible formanaging and overseeing the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases, as well as developing and implementing strategies to prevent the spread of these diseases. The position requires collaboration with various healthcare professionals, administrative staff, and security staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients and the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive case management for patients with infectious diseases and takes a proactive approach to prevent and control disease spread.

  • Acts as a resource for infectious disease-related issues, policies, and procedures, and promotes continuity of care and partnerships with specialists and agencies.

  • Monitors and ensures compliance with disease protocols,providesongoing disease education and counseling, andparticipatesin disease management protocols and vaccine administration.

  • Manages patient caseloads for HIV and HCV, completes referrals, and reports mandatory infectious disease cases to the Department of Public Health.

  • Serves as an expert on universal control, exposure control, and blood-borne pathogen techniques, andprovides assistanceand support during infectious disease outbreaks or exposure events.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical School, MD or DO licensed.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience preferably in a corrections environment.

  • Must have a working knowledge of epidemiology with surveillance and statistical reporting and experience with automated systems.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Currently licensed as an MD or DO in the state within which services are provided

  • Possess and maintain current CPR certification.
