Correct Care Solutions Psychology Resident in Florida City, Florida

Overview

Our Psychology Resident position completes psychological assessments (including competency evaluations, malingering assessments, and risk assessments), provides individual and group psychotherapy, and is an active member of the treatment team who provides staff education as needed on psychological issues. This position may also be assigned responsibilities for developing, monitoring and implementing behavioral management plans.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical psychology from an accredited university with dissertation completed

Experience:

  • One (1) year of psychology internship completed

  • Skilled in organization, supervision and evidenced-based treatment interventions

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with a variety of outside customers with varying interests

  • Above average writing skills

  • Must be able to thoroughly and effectively document all work performed in the position

  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department

Licenses/Certifications:

  • None required

Responsibilities

  1. Provides individual and group treatment including competency groups, psycho-educational groups, therapy groups, individual counseling, and individual competency restoration sessions.

  2. Provides psychological assessments including competency assessments, risk assessments, and malingering assessments. Writes court reports that meet Department of Children and Families standards.

  3. Develops, monitors and implements behavioral management plans.

  4. Serves as a consultant to the multidisciplinary teams.

  5. Assists in guidance and training of psychology interns. Provides training and education to the rest of the clinical team as needed. Provides expert testimony in court.

  6. Serves on committees as assigned by the Director of Psychology and Program Services or facility administrator.

  7. Demonstrates knowledge of Florida Statutes Chapter 490, including ethical and related clinical principles.

  8. Completes thorough, accurate, and timely documentation of services provided that is consistent with professional standards and facility procedures.

  9. Demonstrates understanding of and complies with special precautions, disaster and fire safety procedures, assists with finding alternatives to seclusion and restraint, knowledgeable of abuse reporting requirements. Completes mandatory training.

  10. Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues, treats residents as individuals and considers the culture of the residents when providing care and treatment. Demonstrates cultural competency in all aspects of duties performed. Attends and successfully completes competency training.

  11. Is honest, consistent, fair, positive, and nurturing in daily interactions.

  12. Is knowledgeable about care and treatment needs of residents of different ages. Provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with/sensitive to the age and life span development needs of each resident. Demonstrates age specific competency in all aspects of duties performed.

  13. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.

  14. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.

  15. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.

  16. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.

  17. Perform other duties as assigned.
